Czech petra Kvitova overcame a second set meltdown to dispatch Angelique Kerber 6-2, 0-6, 6-3 in the final of the pan pacific Open, here on saturday to claim her 11th WTA tour title.


The 2011 Wimbledon champion sealed victory on her fourth match point when kerber could only find the net after Czech lefthander had forced her back with a customary deep forehand.

Axed after his failures in India's home series against England earlier this year,Yuvraj had few opportunities to catch the selecters' eye again.


Even his stint for Sahara Pune Warriors in the Indian Premier League wasn't satisfying enough for the selectors to recall him to the national team.


However when the selectors named Yuvraj as skipper of the India A squad, the southpaw seized the opportunity and proved that he was spent force by scoring a fiery 89-ball 123 as India 'A' thumped a hapless West Indies 'A' by 77 runs at the M Chinnaswamy stadium to launch their three-match One Dayers on a winning note.

Indian cricket team captian Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been ranked 16th in the latest Forbes list of highest-paid athletes with an earning of  $31.5 million (around Rs.180 crore), placing him above the likes of Rafael Nadal and usain bolt.

As per the latest Forbes list of highest-paid athletes in the world, the 31-year old captain of the Indian cricket team earned $31.5 million between june 2012 and june 2013.

Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina joined the run feast with superb centuries as India A posted a mammoth 582 for nine against South africa A to take command of the unofficial Test, here on sunday.

Sharma scored 119 while Raina blasted 135 as the two overnight batsmen ripped apart the home bowling attack on the second day of the match. India skipper Cheteshwar Pujara had struck 137 on Saturday to put his side in a strong position.

Sharma and Raina shared a 106-run partnership for the fourth wicket, which was broken when the former was caught by Temba Bavuma off JP Duminy at the fagend of the morning session.
